Artist's Description
Following a stormy afternoon in Corbridge, England, the clouds broke and the River Tyne became a glass mirror reflecting this gorgeous medieval 17th Century stone bridge.
The Corbridge Bridge is located in Northumberland, England and crosses the River Tyne at a medieval town called Corbridge. The bridge was origially built in 1235. Described in 1306 as the only bridge between Newcastle and Carlisle, maintaining a connection between Scotland and England. The bridge was replaced by the seven arched bridge seen today (this image shows three of these seven arches). The bridge was built so well that it was the only bridge to withstand he famous flood of 1771. In 1881 the bridge was expanded by three feet but it's appearance was not spoiled. (Wikipedia)
